Special peer-reviewed issue presents proceedings from an international roundtable unconference, advancing interdisciplinary scholarship at the intersection of law, psychology, and real-world justice challenges.
LONDON — Legal Issues Journal (LIJ) has released Volume 11, Issue 1 (2026), a special issue guest-edited by Professor Fatos Selita of Hult International Business School. The edition features proceedings from the Roundtable Unconference held in London on December 3, 2025, which convened judges, lawyers, psychologists, and multidisciplinary experts to examine the fusion of psychological insights with legal practice.
In the opening article, Guest Editor Selita underscores that law affects society at its core—regulating rights, freedoms, business, and social structures—yet remains only partially connected to psychology, the science of human behavior, decision-making, and cognition. The issue demonstrates how systematic integration of these fields can improve judicial processes, governance, and societal outcomes, from cognitive biases and sleep effects on judgment to broader questions of fairness, corruption, and multidisciplinary knowledge acquisition.
Key contributions include Selita and Yulia Kovas’s analysis of “Deep but Narrow, Wide but Shallow: Unidisciplinary vs Multidisciplinary Knowledge and Decision-Making,” which critiques narrow specialization in legal education and advocates for interdisciplinary training to enhance decision-making. Additional articles explore judicial integrity as an act of conscience, psychological mechanisms sustaining corruption and their impact on rule of law in Albania, sleep and the law, fairness as concept or delusion, and feminist criminology. The collection reflects LIJ’s mission as an independent, not-for-profit, peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary journal focused on contemporary legal issues including artificial intelligence, ethics, enforcement, genomics, and social structures.
This volume is essential reading for legal professionals, psychologists, academics, policymakers, and students seeking evidence-based approaches to more effective, human-centered justice systems. It is now available in print and digital formats.
