For many writers, Twitter has become an important social media tool. Being able to interact—briefly—with other writers, editors, and publishers is a good way to overcome the inherent solitary nature of writing. You can read what others are writing about, find encouragement, share links to your own work, and generally feel part of a community. (The ubiquitous hashtag #amwriting is the key to finding other writers among the twitterati.)
Of course, as writers, we also want to follow accounts that contain useful information, too. The Writer’s Circle has recently listed twelve Twitter accounts they believe all writers should be following.
- Local journals and authors
- @WritersDigest
- @StephenKing
- @AdviceToWriters
- @WritersRelief
- @JoyceCarolOates
- @LunaParkReview
- @LaphamsQuart
- @MelvilleHouse
- @NewYorker
- @LitRejections
- Fellow twitter writers
