When did you begin writing, and what inspired you?

I was always interested in writing from a young age. Creating stories from a blank canvas always appealed to me.

What is your writing process like?

The idea/inspiration can come from every day interactions…something seen..something read or overheard. Fleshing out the idea is the fun part.

What tools do you i use to write, and how?

My creative process/drafting is always done through the medium of pen and paper. It helps me feel more connected.

How many books have you written? Do you have a favorite?

I have two short story collections:

I will let the readers decide their favorite.

What book or project are you working on now?

I am working through some ideas for a debut novel…an Irish coming of age story.

What was the inspiration for your most recent book or work in progress?

I find my inspiration in the day to day. How people live their lives, their hopes, dreams and challenges.

What is the most difficult part of the writing process for you?

The fine tuning and drafting.

Do you consider plot or characters first when you begin to write?

It could be a mix…a plot idea..an interesting character and then letting the characters take you on their journey.

What is the most valuable piece of information you’ve been given about writing?

Be bulletproof.

How do you celebrate when you finish a project?

A nice meal or a trip away.

What is one thing you Hope readers take away from your writings?

I hope readers are transported and find the stories authentic.

Other thoughts

Analyse your rejections forensically. More often than not they will improve your craft. Don’t be too precious about yourself!
